We are a San Francisco-based mobile entertainment company that is continuously breaking new ground on smartphones and tablets by building graphically rich games, developing fun new genres of entertainment and creating innovative technologies. We launched in 2009 and have grown to over 200 employees. Our games have been downloaded over 200 million times globally! This person will join one of our new teams working on games in the sci-fi or fantasy genres. We are looking for people excited to bring excellent quality work to mobile and establish our company as a leader in 3D art for mobile. We are excited to be shaping and defining games as we know it on mobile. Lead Concept Artists are absolutely critical to the vision of a game and creative process as a whole. We are looking for a Lead Concept Artist to join a fresh new team, with a very strong and innovative style. This is a hyper creative role for a concept artist with a diverse imagination to own and embrace the soul of this new high-quality, core title. You will be expected to take a seed of an idea and flesh out and expand all aspects of character design. You can expect to create a range of assets from characters, vehicles, to huge mechs for high-quality, core titles. While working with our Game Designers, the game’s Art Director, and Concept Artists you will help devise the game’s visual style and direction through concept. The great part is, this type of game and style is going to be new to all of us here!

What you will be doing.

  • Work with the 3D character artist to create high quality assets from beginning to finish.
  • Create a variety of characters including humanoids, vehicles, environments, props and mechs.
  • Work with the Art Director, Character Lead, and Character Artists to expand the ideas of our game.

What you need to work here.

  • Minimum of 5+ years as professional Concept Artist
  • A BFA, MFA, art degree, or equivalent experience as a 3D Artist
  • Film and/or console/PC game experience a plus
  • Effective in maintaining constant communications with diverse team
  • Ability to value the big picture, while understanding the importance of maintaining timelines and meeting deadlines
  • Experience providing great concepts with 1+ shipped title(s)
  • Excellent illustration skills, deep understanding of composition, color theory, values, form, shape language, and silhouette.
  • Experience in creating original and unique ideas
  • 3D experience a huge plus
  • Plus:
  • Have shipped AAA PC or console titles as a Concept Artist
  • A portfolio containing a diversified range of conceptual work beyond characters: ie. environments or graphic design
  • This is a full time role that would require you to be on site in our downtown San Francisco studio.
  • An avid and passionate gamer across multiple platforms
